Whispered interpretation or chuchotage is ideal for meetings in which one person does not know the working language. The interpreter situates himself by this person’s side and will translate what the other participants have said in a low voice. Chuchotage is very useful for visits at all types of facilities such as factories, construction sites and for product demonstrations. In meetings lasting more than an hour it is necessary that two interpreters take turns.
This type of interpretation is usually used when only one or two people do not know the working language in a meeting, and when the use of consecutive interpretation or technical equipment is not feasible. |
